Yeoh Seng Guan is an Associate Professor in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Monash University Malaysia. He is an urban anthropologist whose research focuses on the intersections of cities, religion, migration, and civil society in Southeast Asia. He also produces ethnographic documentaries and has conducted fieldwork in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Nepal. He has studied groups such as urban squatters, pilgrims, street vendors, Japanese retirees, migrant workers, and civil society organisations. His research covers socio-spatial justice, labour migration, diasporic identities, interfaith relations, and grassroots environmental activism. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
