Umadevi Palanisamy is a Professor at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. A pre-clinical medical educationist and researcher, she has over a decade of experience advancing health promotion for marginalised communities. She has designed and led innovative community engagement programmes such as Community-Based Practice, the Community Engagement Elective, and the Campus Community Programme. She founded the HEARD (HEAlthcaRe needs of the Deaf) initiative and developed the award-winning DITE (Deaf in Touch Everywhere) app. A recipient of the 2023 Nature Inclusive Health Research Award, she has secured numerous community grants for her work.
