Rabi Abeyasinghe is the World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative to Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. He previously served as WHO Representative to the Philippines and held senior roles at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WPRO), including acting Director of Health Security and Emergencies, where he supported the regional response to COVID-19. He has joined WHO since 2011, holding key roles such as acting Director of Communicable Diseases and Regional Entomologist. Prior to these roles, he led the National Malaria Control Programme and GFATM Projects for the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka. He holds an MD in Community Medicine, an MSc in Biology and Control of Disease Vectors, and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
