Mohd Adzir Mahdi’s career in photonics bridges academic research and industrial application. After contributing to early optical amplifier research in Malaysia, he gained valuable industry experience in the USA as an optical amplifier designer. Upon returning to Universiti Putra Malaysia, he focused on developing research initiatives within local resource constraints. His leadership resulted in a fibre-based pulse initiator device, which led to the founding of inLAZER Dynamics Sdn. Bhd. in 2018. This venture exemplifies efforts to translate academic innovation into commercial solutions, aligning research with industry needs and supporting talent development in photonics.
