Michael Connors is a Professor in Global Studies at Monash University Malaysia and the Founding Director of the Graduate Research Office (MUMGRO). He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on cultural policy, ideology, nationalism, and liberalism in Southeast Asia. His editorial work includes Thai Politics in Translation (2021) and a special issue of Asian Studies Review (2023). He has held academic positions in Asia, Australia, and the UK, and was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University in 2016-2017. At MUMGRO, he promotes graduate research and industry engagement through ‘Industry PhDs’.
